Our Programs

Ignite Danceworks Inc. offers a place for all dancers in our studio, and we have programs tailored to deliver the best training possible to suit your child’s needs, desires and abilities. From Mom & Tot classes and Pre-Dance sessions for ages 1-3 to Recreational (non-competitive) program for ages 4 & up; A Competitive program for ages 6 & up and an Intensive Training Program for ages 11 & up.


These are fun and magical classes, created and tailored specifically for children ages 1-4 by Ignite Danceworks Inc.  Through use of props & imaginative movements, children explore creativity & improvisation, while learning musicality & primary dance skills.  Both classical & popular music are used in class to facilitate the best learning experience for the dancers.

Tiny Steps with Parent (ages 1 & 2)
We use music classical pop music while learning basic dance and creative movement skills with you by their side. We learn all about warming up, stretching, nursery rhymes, role playing and use of props to foster a love for dance, enhance gross motor skills and give your child and you an experience you will always remember!

Tumble Steps with Parent (ages 1-2)
We use music children know and love while learning beginner acrobatic moves with you by their side. We learn all about warming up, stretching, tumbling limbering, games and obstacle courses to foster a love for movement and enhance gross motor skills and give both you and your child an experience to remember!

Little Movers (ages 2-3)
We use a variety of music for this class – from classical to popular music that is fun and familiar to them – and we expand on the techniques learned by our younger classes. We do a combination of pre-ballet steps, pre-jazz skills, plus stretching and a bit of acro in the end. Props, games and imaginative movements are still used to stimulate a passion and love for movement!

Let’s Dance (ages 3-4)
In this class, your child will be learning and building on pre-ballet, pre-jazz and acro skills from the previous level, but are now also introduced to activities that promote and require spatial awareness, balance, muscular control, creativity and imagination – including games and use of props. To promote musicality, we also use a variety of music for this class,from classical to popular music that is fun and familiar to them. Definitely one of our most popular classes!

Mini Starz (ages 4-5)
This combo class is a great transition for those students who are unsure of which discipline to take, or who are just starting classes for the first time.  Your child will be introduced to their first steps in ballet, jazz and acro in a fun, energetic and exciting way!  Mini Staz classes promote spatial awareness, balance, muscular control, creativity and imagination.  We also use a variety of music for this class,from classical to popular music that is fun and familiar to them.  This class is a favourite for our families!


Classes are held in all dance disciplines & run during the evenings and weekend.  These classes are geared for dancers who want maximum fun & quality training in minimum time.  All students take part in our annual dance recital.

*Our recreational program is NON-COMPETITIVE

Classes are held in all disciplines, including additional specialty dance training classes.  Exams are optional but recommended and competition is mandatory.  Students take 2-3 classes per week, per discipline (based on level).  Competitive program packages are available.
Students may be required to purchase additional attire or dance shoes.

*Ballet is required for the competitive program.
*Acro/Stretch class are mandatory for all competitive students & are included in the fees.  Conditioning and Pre-Pointe/Pointe are mandatory for Level 3 and up

An elite, half-day program where students with professional aspirations in dance field train intensively in the afternoons, Monday through Friday.
While classes are offered in all disciplines, ballet is the primary focus of the program.  Dancers study ballet at least 7-8 hours per week, including acrobatic, stretch and conditioning classes, along with their other disciplines and are guaranteed a minimum of 16-20 hours per week of class time.  The ITP dancers also participate in workshops throughout the year.  Students are required to uphold studio standards and will take part in all exams, performance opportunities, conventions and competitions.

NOTE: This program is geared for students with drive, dedication with exceptional ability wishing to maximize their potential. Ignite Danceworks Inc. requires all applicants and their guardians be aware of all studio policies, requirements and expectations prior to enrolment in the program. Intensive Training Program candidates are admitted by audition only.

Cecchetti Method

Ballet develops grace, poise, coordination, balance, strength and discipline. Ballet is the staple behind all classical dance forms and as such, is necessary in order to progress into the higher levels of all other disciplines.

**All classes are in the year-end recital. Exam classes are available.



Jazz is a high-energy class, incorporating technically challenging moves, such as on kicks, jumps, turns, which build strength, endurance and flexibility. Jazz has its roots in many forms of music, and tends to be fun, energetic class for all participants.

Tap is about creating music through your feet, and expressing it through your body. Tap is a fast-paced, challenging class while being extremely fun and creative at the same time.

**All classes are in the year-end recital. Exam classes are available.



Lyrical/Contemporary takes its roots in ballet and modern, but has more of an organic stance to movement. This dance form uses improvisation, movements, gestures, mimes and dancing to express an emotion, situation, lyrics or a feeling to music.

**Exam classes are available. All modern & contemporary classes will be in the year-end recital.


Hip-Hop is about coordination, power, excitement and enjoyment! Taking roots in street dance and break dance, hip-hop is one of the most popular styles of dance today, and is featured in music videos, stage performances and on television.

**All hip-hop classes will be in the year-end recital.


Acrobatic Arts

AcroDance is a discipline which focuses on five key elements that are fundamental to today’s dance training: Flexibility, Strength, Balancing, Limbering and Tumbling. Instructors will safely guide students through the progression of the syllabus levels, from log rolls and somersaults to tumbling effortlessly across the stage.

**AcroDance classes may be in the year-end recital, based on teacher discretion.

Jumps & Turns

A class specifically designed for those students wishing to excel a little further in their dance training. Jumps & Turns classes will focus on developing the strength and control needed to do revolutions and takeoff/land from the ground in various position. Technical elements to be gained include Articulation, Balance, Eye Focus, Arm Placement, Alignment.

**Jumps and Turns classes will not be in the year-end recital


Progressive Ballet Technique

A class solely designed by a dancer, for dancers. This class focuses on developing muscle memory, strength, coordination and control over specific muscle groups that are used in dance. The goal of conditioning class is for injury prevention – stopping injuries before they happen – and rehabilitation – strengthening after an injury.

**Conditioning classes will not be in the year-end recital.
